What is aerothermal system?

Aero means Air and therm is a thermal unit for measuring heat.
Aerothermy is a state-of-the-art heat pump system that saves energy to heat or cool the air.
The heat pump is a machine for making heat and cold that uses a circuit similar to that of refrigerators.
There are two types of Aerothermal: air-air and air-water

AIR-AIR

Exchanges heat with outside air to heat or cool the inside.

AIR-WATER

Exchanges heat with a water system.
In this case, systems such as heating, cooling and the production of domestic hot water are centralized.

Our professional recommendation:

In our architecture studio in Barcelona, ​​we recommend installing in your renovated positive home:

• aerothermal system only for hot water (NOT combined with heating and cooling)
• heat pump or minisplits for heating and cooling with R32 gas

For these reasons:

1. energy saving and efficiency
2. economic savings (aerothermal combined with heating & cooling is quite more costly and not so efficient, then we recommend minisplits for heating and cooling for two reasons: they are way more efficent and have room-by-room control without extra cost. You may also add heat pump, but there’s extra cost on the room by room control and not so efficent)
3. environmentally friendly system
4. possibility of energy support by solar panel (only for family houses)

What’s the price of Aerothermal system?

For a 90m2 home with one floor (up to 3 bedrooms), the cost of the Aerothermal machine only for water and its installation is about € 2,900 (includes material, install, taxes and 3 years guarantee on machine).
For very efficient miniplits connected to the WIFI and control room by room count around 1.600€ per one machine (includes material, install, taxes and 3 years guarantee on machine).
