Barcelona Renovation Zen

So excited to share the details of our latest full renovation in Barcelona city fully delivered in 3 months thanks to our amazing contractor team!
The project is focused on a complete electrical overhaul, improving the existing wooden windows, reusing radiators and furniture while adding origami in paper lamps to deliver a serene, zen-inspired aesthetic in mind.

Design Philosophy: Zen for Rent

This project was specifically designed as a renovation to rent, focusing on creating an inviting and calming atmosphere. The dominant use of white paint throughout the apartment plays a crucial role in maximizing natural light and achieving that peaceful, zen-like ambiance. The aim was to create a sanctuary for future tenants.

Artistic Collaboration: Origami Ceiling Lights

To add a unique and imaginative touch, we collaborated with the talented origami artist Laura Baraut (polighthedric). This partnership resulted in stunning new paper globe ceiling lights, which not only provide soft, ambient lighting but also serve as captivating artistic installations. They perfectly complement the zen theme, adding a delicate and thoughtful design element.

Electrical System & False Ceilings

The core of this Barcelona renovation involved a comprehensive update of the entire electrical wiring system. This crucial, behind-the-scenes work ensures modern safety standards and efficiency. We also introduced new false ceilings ONLY in specific areas, which not only allowed to rewire the full apartment with few resources; but also contributed to a cleaner, more contemporary look while mantaining the essence of style by keeping the existing ceiling molds and height.

Sustainable & Reused Elements

A key aspect of this project was our commitment to reusing and giving new life to existing features. We carefully reused and restored:

• Wood Windows: Brushed and painted white, these windows not only flood the space with natural light, enhancing the bright and airy feel; but also add thermal and acoustic insulation with the doble glazing we addded.
• Doors: Same strategy of the windows, the original wooden doors were brougth to live with a fresh coat of white paint, new handles and transparent glass for perfect zen and classy Mediterrenean style.
• Furniture: All custom existing furniture pieces were also given a new life, repainted in white to blend with the overall atmosphere while keeping a sense of history within the renovated home.
