{"id":2533,"date":"2018-03-28T06:18:26","date_gmt":"2018-03-28T04:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/era.archi\/?p=2533"},"modified":"2022-12-27T10:13:07","modified_gmt":"2022-12-27T09:13:07","slug":"house-facades-types-and-recommendations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/era.archi\/en\/house-facades-types-and-recommendations\/","title":{"rendered":"House facades: types and recommendations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What types of house facades exist?<\/p>\n<p>What is the most recommended facade for my house in Barcelona?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this post we tell you the the types of facades and our recommendations.<br \/>\nIn case you do not know us yet, let us introduce ourselves.<br \/>\nWe are ERA architects, one of the young, committed and <a href=\"https:\/\/era.archi\">creative Architecture studios in Barcelon<\/a>a.<br \/>\nIn this post you can find our professional and simple explanation of types of facades and recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is a facade?<\/strong><br \/>\nThey are the exterior walls of the house<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What types of facades are there?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can distinguish between different categories: by constructive systems, composition or materials.<\/p>\n<p>SYSTEM<br \/>\nHeavy or light<\/p>\n<p>COMPOSITION<br \/>\nSimple or multilayered<\/p>\n<p>MATERIALS<br \/>\nWide range of materials: concrete, stone, wood, metal, plastic, plant and mud.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HEAVY FACADES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SIMPLE<br \/>\nThey are fa\u00e7ades that work for a single mass material.<br \/>\nThey are usually made of stone, concrete, ceramics, wood or straw.<br \/>\nA clear example is the cathedrals with walls in mass of stone of up to 2m thick.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MULTILAYER<br \/>\nThey are facades with other layers besides the one of the material in mass.<br \/>\nThese layers are the ventilated chamber and the thermal insulation.<br \/>\nAn extended and innovative example is the facade of SATE (Thermal Insulation System Abroad)<br \/>\nThis system allows to have the insulation bonded to the wall in bulk by the outer face, add as a final finish a plaster and have a ventilated outer face.<br \/>\nThe plastering is a type of system that combines exterior walls that are very widespread and traditional in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>LIGERAS FACADES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SIMPLE<br \/>\nThey are single-layer systems.<br \/>\nThere are self-supporting systems that do not require structure such as metal sandwich panels (insulating panels covered with thin metallic layer).<br \/>\nThere are also systems that need metal or wood structure support.<br \/>\nThere are different options of material being the most common metallic, polycarbonate, wood or even straw panels.<br \/>\nThey usually have low levels of insulation and therefore they are recommended for very warm and tropical climates whenever good ventilation is procured.<\/p>\n<p>MULTILAYER<br \/>\nLike heavy ones, lightweight adds other layers to the light system.<br \/>\nThese layers of air chamber and insulation are usually located on the outside of the house.<br \/>\nThis allows you to create ventilated facades with little wall thickness.<br \/>\nAnother layer that can be added is a vapor barrier in the inner face.<br \/>\nThis allows a hermetic house of the outside climate but still constantly ventilated with internal air renewals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In our <a href=\"https:\/\/era.archi\">Architecture studio in Barcelona<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/era.archi\">ERA architects<\/a>, our main goal is to make comfortable houses that function to your needs.
