Project Description

This simple renovation (or face washing)
has been a collaboration between two families.
Let me tell you the story:
Rosa and Ramón lived in this apartment for 50 years.
They had their 3 children and raised them here.
Unfortunately, during this last year and a half,
they both passed away.
ROSA
Rosa was passionate about reading.
Specialist in children’s and youth books, in 2014 she received the
Aurora Díaz Plaja award from the Catalan Language Writers Association.
She was responsible for recommending books to generations of
young Catalans from the Cavall Fort magazine until 2017.
RAMÓN
Ramon was an interior designer in the 1970s.
He had his studio at home and won a FAD award with the design of a coat rack.
It was very common to see them reading books
at the balcony with views to Sagrada Familia.
When they left the apartment, they left a large legacy of books and furniture.
This legacy has been the basis for designing a new life for this apartment.
The furniture has been reused (some designed by Ramon).
The doors have also been transformed into lights in the living room.
And even some books have become bed headboard.
We have made this small and simple transformation as a family
together with my dad and sister (Jaume and Gemma) during our free time.
Finally, youth books have been also
donated to the Virolai school library.
